Washing & Care

  • Seams by Sarah Originals are made from pre-loved textiles and vintage materials. Discoloration or stains from age are unavoidable and lend to the art of the garment.

  • Washing/Drying: Each garment is unique and special care should be taken to asses the level of cleaning required. Most pieces are upcycled from commercially made clothing and fabrics. Most items can be machined washed with mild detergent in cold water. Hang dry or tumble dry on low with your normal clothing.

  • Special Care: Many pieces I make contain truly vintage material. Lace, silk, wool, quilts etc. are fragile and should be handled with extra care. Hand washing and hang drying these garments may be the best method to ensure they last.

  • Dyes: We commonly use dyes to achieve unique shades in our fabrics. I personally wash each item before completing the final product, but you may notice that the water has a tint during the first wash. If you're unsure whether your item has been dyed, I recommend washing it separately the first time.
